  1. Review Spartacus

    Spartacus

To be fair, I’ve watched it in three parts. I watched it one hour each time. I kept getting kicked out of the room, but I have eventually and finally watched all of it.

I really enjoyed it, it met all of my expectations. I’d heard a lot about it but it didn’t over hype it. Everything about it was enjoyable. I’m a big fan of the few Kubrick films that I’ve seen so I was already prepared to see it.

The story and writing were great and it was incredibly enjoyable. The whole story of Spartacus is started off with the line: “Spartacus wanted to free slaves, 2000 years before it was finally abolished.” or something like that. But that basically started off the whole thing. I never knew the story of Spartacus, but I thought it was really interesting and quite powerful.

I just overall enjoyed the whole thing all the little twists and turns and the whole story of the slaves fighting back against the Romans was great, very moving. The performances were good and it really showed a lot about the Roman Empire that I didn’t know. To be honest I know nothing about the Roman Empire but I liked seeing into the structure of their government.

For some reason I am not very good at talking about films that I enjoyed so if I say the words: “enjoyed” and “interesting” a lot, you can tell that I like the film or I’m just struggling to find synonyms. Either or.

So basically, I really enjoyed it. It’s not my normal kind of film but it was pretty interesting, will need to watch from start to end sometime. Along with Ben Hur and Laurence of Arabia.

    Spartacus 4/5
